For most of my career, my live performances have consisted mainly of my own songs. The occasional cover tune creeps in, but it has been a fairly rare occurrence since at least 2005. So, when a friend remarked that he'd like to hear me do a version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, it struck me that it might be a good time to tackle material written by other artists.

Interpretations was completed in May 2011, and the material I chose is really quite diverse; it's not often you'll find songs by The Beatles, Dan Navarro, The Eagles, George Thorogood, Mississippi John Hurt, Chris Smither, Son House and Rush all in one collection.

My favorite from this album is The Long Black Veil which was written by Marijohn Wilkin & Danny Dill, and has been covered by a number of artists including Lefty Frizzell, Johnny Cash, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez and The Chieftains (theirs was the first version I heard). I am especially proud of what I did with this song.

I've played some of these tunes for years; others were learned specifically for this project. I had a great time working with them, and each one has influenced me in one way or another.

Because these songs are not mine, I cannot offer them for free. However, they can be sampled and purchased here.
