Rachel Lorenz is my wife.  To say that I love and value her beyond all others would be an understatement.  Feel free to check out her web site and her Cafe Press store.

Dan Navarro is from the same town where I grew up, Calexico CA, and he went to high school with my mother and aunt.  However, we did not meet each other until Aug 2009.  I managed to get a booking opening for him at a house concert outside Chicago.  When we were introduced, Dan said he had grown up with Lorenzs.  I asked him where, and when he responded "Calexico, CA" my exact response was "Get the fuck outta here!"  Since then, he and I have developed a solid friendship and we feel like we have known each other for a good portion of our lives.

Dan is an amazing vocalist and songwriter.  He started his career with Eric Lowen and wrote songs covered for artists as diverse as Pat Benatar (the Grammy-nominated “We Belong”) , The Bangles, Jackson Browne, Keb’ Mo’, Dave Edmunds, The Temptations, Dionne Warwick, Dutch superstar Marco Borsato,  The Triplets,  Austin outlaw legend Rusty Weir and many more.

He’s moonlighted as a session singer and voice actor for 27 years, in major motion pictures like The Book Of Life (as the villain “Chakal”), The Lorax, Happy Feet (1 & 2), Rio (on the Oscar-nominated “Real In Rio”), Ice Age (2 & 3), and a dozen more; TV series Turbo Fast, Prison Break, Family Guy and American Dad; recordings with Neil Young, Andrea Bocelli, Luis Miguel, Jose Feliciano, Susanna Hoffs and Jon Anderson of Yes; and hundreds of commercials for Subaru, Shakey’s Pizza, McDonald’s, Toyota, Coca-Cola, Honda, El Pollo Loco, Nationwide and more.

Jiyushinkai is an organization of which I am extremely proud to be a part.  I suspect that if I had not found it, I would have lost the bit of sanity that I've managed to preserve.

Guy Davis may be my favorite bluesman, and I'm lucky enough to be able to call him a friend.  He's carved out a pretty amazing career for himself; I highly recommend visiting his website and checking out his music if you are not familiar with him.

Chris Smither is one of my favorite artists.  Great singer/songwriter who is also an amazing guitarist.  I highly recommend his albums Leave the Light On, Train Home and Live As I'll Ever Be.  I feel they provide the best representation of his work.

Todd Snider is a fantastic songwriter with interesting ideas about a variety of subjects.

B&D Guitar Repair is Billy O'Reilly's shop in Phoenix, AZ and he is one of my favorite people.  He's honest and great at what he does.  What more do you want?  His web site is here and his Facebook page is here.  Don't let the basic internet presence fool you; he's too busy fixing guitars to have a fancy web site.

The Wild Hog in the Woods, Inc., was founded in 1978 by local folk musicians and folk lovers and is one of my favorite venues. The organization is based on cooperative principals and is incorporated as a not for profit organization. The Hog is operated by its members, with everyone volunteering their time, skills and talents.

JustGoods is a not-for-profit fair trade store located in the Midtown District of Rockford Illinois. The Listening Room has a stage area where local and regional musicians can perform weekly in our Friday Night Concert Series, and is a great place to play/see a show.

The Crossroads Blues Society, or CBS for short, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that primarily raises funds in order to host Blues In The Schools Programs in the greater Rockford area of northern Illinois.  These programs are fully funded by CBS and there is absolutely no cost to area schools for these programs.  Crossroads also publishes a bi-monthly newsletter with articles, music reviews and other related information.  It is published in full color and distributed to our members, record companies and other blues industry organizations.  It is published in full color both electronically and in hard copy.  Each issue usually contains at least two dozen reviews of recently released CDs.
